He graduated with a real high school diploma as Valedictorian through a special program. He became a Father to a beautiful little boy. He became manager of the grocery store he had only been working at 5 months.
But he didn't get to do things most normal boys get to do, like, go to the Prom.
It was the little (big) things like this that bothered me most of all. My baby being rushed through life, missing the things I knew someday he would regret.
But last Saturday night, he got to go to Prom.
And he did it with a girl that we love to pieces. He has been with her 1 yr now, they plan on marrying in the future, she has a scholarship and plans on doing "the college thing" all the way. She has a 4.0. He is now Corporal in the United States Marine Corp, just got his Networking license to add on to his degree of I.T. He is supposed to go on his first tour of Afghanistan next Spring.
I am proud of all these things but tonight I got a little verklempt when someone sent me this.

My baby made it to Prom, with the right girl, in uniform no less.
Talk amongst yourselves, I need to go find a tissue.

Well, Miss Kay. Way to make me cry before work.
Congratulations to Cameron (and to you, too, Mama. You did good!).
xoxo
Great looking couple (I like his mode of dress, too.) I hope they are happy (and he is a better man for overcoming all his trials and tribulations.)
Lori I so sorry! Especially after your morning!! :(
Coffey he was a good kid to start with and even a better man today. I am so proud of all he has overcome and never gave up, not once. He is an awesome Father, Son and Marine. They are very very happy, I am envious of their relationship. They got it right. ;)
