Have you ever felt stupid? Had to eat your words? Embarassed?

Well I felt all 3 of these things yesterday.


Sookie. Whom we had not witnessed having a heat cycle since last April, is spending a lot of time outdoors, her choice, we live in the country, it cuts down on hair in the house and litter pans. Perry tested positive for allergies for cats so it was a choice we had to make.

We planned on getting her fixed, asap. We have NO local or even within a few hours drive that does the cheap fixes. The closest we found is 170 miles round trip and with gas prices and time constraints with Drew working every day 12 hours a day it wasn't possible for taking her and picking her up.

It is something I have struggled with but there has been no good time to drop $140 on a surgery that we thought, could wait.

I know, excuses excuses...


But we never saw her in heat. We are out here where there are no other cats in the boonies. Our nearest neighbors are dog people. We are around her constantly and her past heat cycles were undeniable.

I think you know where this was going.

We have an appointment for April 10th.

2 weeks ago it was like a watermelon grew in her belly.


Yesterday we woke up to 7 kittens.
